Brave New Work
What is the future of work in Canada? I was invited by Banff Centre and Simon Fraser's Radius Labs to bring design strategy and research expertise to create a synthesis report of a two day workshop that covered the themes: independent workers, AI for good, transitioning workers, and technological wealth. This workshop "ReframeWork" was the first step in what we expect to be a 5-year journey to uncover and build promising innovations, and cultivate and activate a network of leaders from across sectors to steward the change we collectively seek. The Nueva School
The Nueva School is still an established K-12 school focused on student-centered learning. It helps students deal with ambiguity as lot of classes are experimental. Teaching at The Nueva School, and Nueva Design Thinking Institute, I focused on design thinking and Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum in the I-Lab department. From coordinating the Nueva Design Thinking Consultancy, where our students led lessons such as Visual Thinking at Stanford d.School, to taking students to Costa Rica to learn about marine biology, climate change and how design thinking could help with the leatherback turtle preservation, the experience of instructing has been rewarding and has taught me a lot about group dynamics, human behavior, and the growth mindset. Courses taught: Design Thinking x2, Advanced Entrepreneurship, Architecture (pioneered), Intro to Graphic Design x2 (pioneered), Advanced Graphic Design (pioneered), Robotics: Mechatronics (co-taught), and Harnessing the Cyle Movement (pioneered)
Providing leaders with creative confidence, we have worked with clients globally. We led workshops over a year to create a culture of innovation at this European energy company. A large part of that deliverable was to provide them with the necessary tools to tackle problems on their own. This included facilitating workshops with Professor Banny Banerjee on Design Thinking, Business Thinking, Systems Thinking and Platform Thinking.
Nueva Design Thinking Institute
Every year we train educators from around the US and Canada. This program was developed by Kim Saxe and led with David Kelley (IDEO/d.School), and Lisa Solomon. We assist participants on how to use Design Thinking in the education sector to shape the school's curriculum. I coached participants and ran two workshops on how I was utilizing Design Thinking and process books with one of my pioneered classes "Design for Social Good".
